Fake Bangkok Stamps Identified Because of Firm Chops
An
advantage of studying the companies that operated in Bangkok prior to
the closure of the British Post office is the identification of fake
stamps. All of the B-overprinted stamps bellow are fakes – the “B” has
been applied to a genuine Straits Settlements stamp. The stamps
displayed here are easily identified as fakes because each has a firm
chop of a company that did not do business in Bangkok prior to 30 June
1885, the day the British Post Office closed.
