- identified by John Wilson
who has a copy of this chop [31 Jan. 2006]
- Is this a firm chop or a
routing handstamp? Seeing that there are at
lease two examples used on stamps, then
maybe it was used for both purposes.

- the left stamp is
cancelled December 1898, probably at RAUB,
PAHANG.
- IDENTIFIED: "Your unknown
ID 006 is the Punjom Mining Co. Ltd. of Raub
and Kuala Lipis (Pahang) - it is a common
chop on stamps of Pahang in the late 1890s."
[Gaden Robinson email 24 Jan. 2006]
- " THE PUNJOM MINING
COMPANY, LTD - R.H. has a complete strike on
a Kuala Lipis cover and I have partial
strikes from both Kuala Lipis and Raub. But
there is also RAUB AUSTRALIAN GOLD MINES [or
MINING??] LTD (I think G.P. has this) which
is also a linear chop in capitals. Your copy
with the clear 1898 Raub cancel matches my
Punjom, but the mark on the 3c/32c seems to
have shorter letters and I wonder if it
could be Raub Australian." Gaden Robinson 8
