There are several similar covers in the book.  The reverse on one cover has the paper seal of the Borneo Co / Singapore. The firm in Bangkok sent the letter to its branch in Singapore, they added a stamp, tied the postage with their handstamp and then place it in the mail.

Two similar covers 1874 June 20 and 1874 July 25 from the same writer to the same Mauritius firm were mailed with a 24c Straits stamp which was the ½ oz rate.

Someone has removed the stamps on this and its similar covers.
